The New Shellharbour Hospital is a major new health precinct delivering expanded clinical services to the Illawarra region, with BESIX Watpac as lead builder. The integrated facility features expanded emergency, surgical and maternity departments, with a design that prioritises patient care and sustainable infrastructure to support regional growth.
Underscore Projects prepared the hydraulic services design and construct documentation for the plumbing contractor, developing the principal’s design through to construction documentation. Scope covered cold, heated and warm water reticulation to clinical areas, sanitary plumbing and drainage, trade waste, natural gas, medical and laboratory outlets, roof and stormwater drainage, and rainwater harvesting for non-potable reuse. The work was documented in accordance with the NSW Health engineering guidelines and the relevant Australian Standards, and included design development of the tender design and coordination of risers and plantrooms within the project BIM model.
