Underscore Projects provides fire protection services design for commercial, health, education and industrial buildings in Sydney and across New South Wales. Fire services are life-safety systems, and the certifier, the fire brigade and the insurer all review them. That is why our design treats compliance with the NCC and the Australian Standards as the starting point. What sets our work apart is who leads it. Our engineers came from tier-one construction, and they design fire systems to be installed, commissioned and certified without the redesign that follows a theoretical drawing set.
Our fire protection design covers fire hydrant systems to AS 2419.1, fire sprinkler systems to AS 2118 and fire pumpsets to AS 2941, along with fire water tanks and booster assemblies. It also includes fire hose reels and portable equipment, special hazard and gaseous suppression for critical assets, and coordination of fire detection and occupant warning to AS 1670.1. For existing buildings, we provide fire safety upgrades and fire order assessment reports. On most projects these are delivered together as a single coordinated fire package. The hydraulic calculations are proven, the water supply is verified by test, and the pipework is spatially resolved against structure, mechanical and electrical services.
We work with architects, developers, asset owners, fire safety engineers and head contractors from concept through to construction, commissioning and the fire safety schedule. Pre-tender engagement lets us confirm street main flows, booster locations, and tank and pumproom requirements while the design can still change. That strengthens your position when the fire trade goes out to price. Documentation is prepared under a Registered Design Practitioner and written so it can be priced, built and certified with as little interpretation as possible. If you need a fire protection engineer who understands site as well as the standards, talk to Underscore Projects.
